Ever Wanted to Write Romance?

Ever wished you could spend a couple of hours with a professional romance author, get the facts on this billion-dollar industry, and learn the basics of writing a romance?

If so, this two-hour workshop with Stella MacLean is the place for you. During this workshop, be prepared to do a little writing centered around the two main characters of your story, the two people who will form the foundation of your romance.

You'll also have time to ask questions about the industry, and Stella will be providing information directly from Harlequin on their various romance lines that will prove useful when you're ready to submit your story. See you in Alma at Wordsfall 2023!

Ruth MacLean (pen name Stella MacLean)

Stella MacLean is a storyteller. Simple as that.

An author of over a dozen books, both fiction and nonfiction, she has served as Writer-in-Residence at Vancouver Public Library in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has also served as Treasurer and Chapter Liaison on the Board of Romance Writers of America.

Stella relishes the hours she spends hiding out in her office making up stories about the lives of imaginary people. Having found love again in the third act of her life, Stella enjoys telling stories about people who find love elusive and complicated, but still try with all their hearts.

Stella's past includes being a registered nurse, from which she has drawn story ideas for several of her books. She went back to university when her children were older and was granted a Commerce Degree, majoring in accounting, from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. She went on to become a Certified Management Accountant and received the designation of Health Services Executive while working at The Moncton Hospital.
